What is the 5/24 Rule?

Chase's 5/24 rule means that if you've opened 5 or more personal credit cards (from any issuer) in the past 24 months, Chase will automatically deny your application for most of their cards.

Key things to know:

Counts cards from all issuers, not just Chase
Business cards from most issuers do not count toward 5/24
Authorized user cards may count but can sometimes be removed
The count is based on the account open date, not the application date
Cards drop off exactly 24 months after the account open date
